Causes

Scars occur when the dermis is damaged by injury, surgery, acne or picking at a scab. When a wound occurs, the skin is in a hurry to replenish tissue resulting in the collagen not getting laid out as neatly as the rest of the skin. Too much collagen creates a raised
scar while a lack of makes an indented scar.

Venus Viva™

  • Targets: Acne scars, ice pick scars, pigmentation, lax or loose skin, rough or unfavourable skin texture, lines and wrinkles

PRP Therapy

  • Targets: Ageing Skin, dull skin, sagging skin, acne scars, pigmentation, wrinkles
  • Treatment: PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma. Your blood is drawn — typically from your arm — and placed into a centrifuge (a machine that spins rapidly to separate fluids of different densities). The separated Platelet Rich Plasma is drawn up into a syringe and then injected into areas of the face or neck using a syringe or microneedling. If you would like immediate results, we recommend combining it with a filler

Microneedling

  • Targets: Acne scars, dehydrated skin, superficial wrinkles, dull skin, pigmentation, open pores and uneven skin texture

Chemical Peel

Subcision

  • Targets: Acne scars, surgical scars, trauma scars, and other types of indented or depressed scars
  • Treatment: Subcision is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat scars, particularly those that are indented or atrophic. During the procedure, a specialized needle is used to break up the fibrous tissue beneath the scar, releasing the trapped collagen and stimulating new tissue growth. This helps to lift the scar tissue, improving the skin's texture and reducing the appearance of scars. Subcision is particularly effective for acne scars, surgical scars, and any scarring that causes skin depression.
  • Method: Needle-based procedure to break down scar tissue and stimulate collagen production
  • Downtime: Mild swelling, bruising, or redness may occur at the treatment site, typically subsiding within a few days
  • Frequency: 2-3 sessions, spaced 4-6 weeks apart, for optimal results

Steroid Injection (Triamcinolone)

  • Targets: Hypertrophic scars, keloid scars, raised scars, and excessive scar tissue
  • Treatment: Steroid injections, specifically Triamcinolone, are commonly used to reduce the size, redness, and thickness of raised scars, such as hypertrophic and keloid scars. The steroid works by reducing inflammation and suppressing excessive collagen production in the scar tissue, helping to flatten and soften the scar over time. Triamcinolone injections can improve the appearance of scars, making them less noticeable and more pliable. This treatment is effective for both old and new scars.
  • Method: Intralesional injection of Triamcinolone into the scar tissue
  • Downtime: Minimal; mild redness, swelling, or slight discomfort may occur at the injection site, which typically resolves within a few hours to a day
